A Ghanaian based in Sweden Nana Afia Serwaa since 2009 narrated her journey from Ghana to Sweden. Her family hails from the Brong Ahafo Region in Ghana but she stayed mainly in the Western part of Ghana all her youth.
She schooled at Snap and was later selling clothing at Takoradi. She has 3 children with the elder son now 23 years of age.
Through the help of her husband and family she was able to travel to the country Sweden.
When she arrived in Sweden, she started schooling to learn the language. With determination, she was able to learn after 2 years and later gained work in the country.
She narrated she was soo emotional whenever she saw how children were treated and could not work continuous in her formal company. She later gained another work, and her union helped her with some financial support.
He is now living in her own social apartment but sometimes feel lonely as her husband and children are not with her in Sweden.
She disclosed Sweden is a good country as they like more family integration. She suggested that, the black community can come together to build business together as done by some foreigners. This can help in a long way to increase financial capacity among the black community.
She has visited back to Ghana three times and she discloses the main job available is home care, cleaning and warehouse jobs among the low ranks.
On the side of cost of living, things are a bit expensive after the covid with good quality life.
