The particular Ghana National Association associated with Teachers (GNAT), the leading collection of public sector instructors in the country is said to be dropping its members in report numbers to other teacher unions perceived to be more intense in demanding for plus seeking better conditions associated with service for them. According to information made available by Honorary Vice President of policy believe tank, Imani Africa, Vivid Simons, GNAT has dropped more than 30% of its users to perceived much more major unions. Other active instructor unions in the country include the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), the National Association associated with Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and many others. “Workers in Ghana seem to be deserting traditional unions in droves. GNAT such as has lost 30%+ from the members, at an accelerating price. Some are decamping in order to splinter/upstart unions they understand as more radical. But the sections also make unions much less influential overall, ” Vivid Simons tweeted with associated data from 1995 -2018. The data shows that the ratio of instructors who are GNAT members to any or all teachers under the Ghana Training Service (GES) has dropped from 100% in 1995 to 79% in 2018.
