Bawku: 5 neatly dressed smock wearers arrested for carrying weapons, knives – Police describe Fugu ban

Law enforcement in the Upper East Area have explained the rationale at the rear of the ban on the putting on of smock in the Bawku Township by the Regional Protection Council. Yesterday, a push statement signed by Local Minister Stephen Yakubu pointed out that the directive was to consider immediate effect. Speaking within an interview on Accra-based Nice FM monitored by Mynewsgh. com this morning, the Upper Eastern Regional PRO of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Davis Fianko Okyere explained the fact that directive had become required because the number of violent offences involving persons who put on smocks was on the ascendency. He said in the past couple of days, up to 5 individuals caught in the municipality for chaotic armed attacks on competitors and innocent citizens had been found to have been perfectly dressed but carried their own weapons under the cover of the smocks. The Bawku Township has also been put under a four PM to 6 WAS curfew by the Minister for your Interior, Ambrose Dery on the advice of the Local Security Council.
