Almost all major public health amenities connected to single digital system – Bawumia

Vice President of Ghana Doctor Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that all Teaching Hospitals plus Regional hospitals are now linked and can talk to each other. Furthermore, Thirty-six health facilities within the Central region have also been coupled to the digital platform in a initial scheme. The Vice Chief executive said the process for some other hospitals is ongoing and expect that it will finished next year. “We have set out on the connection of wellness facilities under the Ghana Wellness Service (GHS) on to a single digital platform. So far, just about all teaching hospitals and all local hospitals have been connected and may talk to each other. Thirty-six wellness facilities in the Central area have also been connected to the digital system in a pilot scheme. The procedure for other hospitals is definitely ongoing and we expect it will completed next year, ” he said. Adding that will “So now if you are known from a hospital like Tamale Teaching Hospital to Korle-bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, you do not need to carry a file. All your records will be observed and monitored by the physician in Korle Bu if you arrive. Patients will have just one digital folder wherever they will go”. He said ” This effort has increased performance, effectiveness and productivity operating delivery by our health services, eliminating the need for queues plus delays and also increasing entry to health care by those who require the services most”.
