
Municipal society organization Alliance designed for Social Equity and General public Accountability (ASEPA) has stuck a formal complaint using the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Support in respect of the publication associated with false news by vocalist Shatta Wale and Nana Dope, his aide. Inside a letter addressed to FIN, ASEPA contends that Shatta Wale and his aide’s statement through social media that Shatta Wale had been shot from and hospitalized with gunshots wounds which has turned out never to be true contravenes Area 208(1) of the Criminal Program code, 1960, Act 29, which usually prohibits people from posting or reproducing things that may cause fear and panic. “The second respondent [Nana Dope] who is an agent from the first respondent[Shatta Wale] knowingly published a fake statement the support from the first respondent with the intentions of deceive the public and result in unwarranted fear and stress contrary to Section 208 associated with Act 29, ”the declaration read in part. ASEPA true that Shatta Wale includes a higher following on social networking and his false report upon being shot had the potential for breaching the public peace associated with his followers acted onto it. “The first respondent includes a huge following in Ghana, mostly young energetic individuals, and that the false information of his ATTACK might have triggered a reprisal assault from his followers that could have breached the public serenity in excess and with possible casualties, ” the statement determined.
