Ghana responded positively to Team G leaders South Africa’s 3-1 conquer Ethiopia earlier in the day with an emphatic victory over Zimbabwe in the Cape Coast Stadium. The Black Stars were also 3-1 victors contrary to the Warriors Saturday evening in their third round game under new coach Milovan Rajevac. Mohammed Kudus have scored the only goal in the first half for Ghana before captain Understanding Musona pulled parity for Zimbabwe three minutes into the second half from the spot. Jones Partey and Andre Ayew then scored two great goals to get Ghana back again to winning ways after the defeat to South Africa in the second round last month. The victory means the four-time African champions are now one point behind leaders Bafana Bafana, who have 7 points. Zimbabwe sits bottom of Group G along with just a point. Kudus obtained a brilliant opener for Ghana within the 5th minute off a brilliant build-up from the left flank. Jordan Ayew laid the ball back to the Ajax star, and he slotted in with his weak right foot. The Warriors got the leveler via captain Musona’s effort from the spot four minutes into the particular second half. He fired directly into the right top corner as goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott went the other way. Jordan Zemura blasted the crossbar within the 57th minute with a great shot from the edge of the box. Thomas Partey scored a good individual goal in the 66th minute to put Ghana back again ahead. The Arsenal star stole the ball from the Zimbabwe defender, skipped past one more, and tucked it into the near post. Chief Andre scored a great header three minutes to the full-time whistle. He connected well in order to a great delivery by Baba Rahman from the left flank to end the game 3-1 in preference of the Black Stars. The two sides will face off within the return fixture in Harare upon Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
