NCA Ghana to shut down forty-nine illegally operating TV channels

The Nationwide Communications Authority(NCA) of Ghana embarks on an exercise in order to shut down 49 TV channels for operating without Authorisations –and this move enhances after Nana Agradaa’s police arrest.
According to the Ghana government Company, it forms part of a consistent monitoring exercise conducted upon various Satellite Free-to-Air Tv platforms using the Broadcast Supervising System (BMS) and the Stereo Spectrum Monitoring System (RSMS).
They further state that the particular monitoring revealed that several channels were operating without having valid Authorisations, contrary to Area 2(4) of the Electronic Marketing communications Act 775 of 08, which states that, ‘Except as provided by this Action or any other law not really inconsistent with this Act, an individual shall not operate. The broadcasting system or give a broadcasting service without a rate of recurrence Authorisation by the Authority’.
Consequently, forty-nine (49) channels are already identified to be operating with no valid Authorisations from the Specialist and is being shut down appropriately.

This move comes after after the popular fetish priestess who is also the owner of satellite tv channel Thunder TV, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa was arrested following the station was found to become operating illegally.
