Usage of Hausa songs for ‘awure’ in Ghanaian Muslim areas becoming extinct – The writer Baba

Ghanaian musician based in Rochester NYC, Jay Baba born Yahaya Alhassan has bemoaned the particular absence of indigenous Ghanaian songs composed in Hausa vocabulary to be played during Muslim marriage ceremonies. Speaking in a digital interview on the Kastle Enjoyment Show with Amansan Krakye monitored by MyNewsGh. possuindo, Jay Baba said nowadays Muslim marriage ceremonies in Ghanaian communities mainly play Nigerian songs which are composed within Hausa language. He stated “Nowadays if you go to awure in some Ghanaian communities, a person hardly hear them perform indigenous songs which are constructed in the Hausa language with a Ghanaian artiste. “Most from the awure we attend nowadays you hear them play music composed by Nigerian artiste which are composed in the Hausa language, ” he informed Cape Coast-based Kastle FM. “I know a couple of Hausa language speakers in the Ghana music industry who are artists so they don’t do this kind of Hausa songs that can be performed during the Muslim marriage ceremonies, ” he addedIn his mission to help preserve the wealthy cultural heritage of Hausa songs that are composed simply by artiste purposely for Awure, Jay Baba has made a decision to dedicate four Hausa music on his upcoming album entitled “Bazazzagi” to Muslims within Ghana. “All I’m looking to do is to help to protect the Hausa language specifically used in composing songs meant for Muslim communities in Ghana.
