Occupants of Daawereso, a gardening community in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti region woke up on Wed morning to the bizarre information of the death of the Gyaasehene of the village.
The seventy six year-old Nana Opuni Kwagyan allegedly shot himself within the neck with a locally produced gun in his bedroom which usually he shared with one of their sons.
It is reported how the septuagenarian was brooding on the loss of a huge sum of money in order to unknown mobile money criminals who had promised in order to double the amount for your pet; the said amount, based on his family members was a mortgage that he took from a cash lender in the community.
“he woke me up to prepare several porridge for him; I needed the sound of the gun through the kitchen and rushed back to the bedroom only to find him lying down lifeless with blood full out from a wound in the neck”, his son informed journalists.
Members of the local community who knew the departed expressed shock that he might fall for such a scam, as they was deemed to be quite respectable and enlightened.
Law enforcement in the area say they have commneced investigations into the matter.
