Railways Minister Peter Amewu reports that Ghana has no programs of introducing sky locomotives considering how capital rigorous. The Minister said presently, Government of Ghana is definitely even struggling to fund the particular ongoing railway projects and thus does not forsee sky locomotives being a possibility in Ghana. He spoke to Accra-based Citi FM when he or she made this known. Philip Amewu said “The atmosphere train that we are referring to is the one that is going to run on content in the sky like the ones the thing is in Dubai but simply no agreement has been signed. ”“It is not possible to be completed now. I don’t see any kind of sky train being required for the next 3-4 years. There isn’t going to be any Atmosphere train in the country. It is not feasible. ”He continued “Rail structure takes a lot of time in fact it is also capital intensive. The kilometre of a railway range is about four to five times the price of building a concrete infrastructure when it comes to building an asphaltic street. ”“So considering the fiscal area that we have in the country, facilities to soak up it is becoming problematic for that government and you know the current debt to GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT which is in excess of 70%. ”It could be remembered that the Govt of Ghana through the previous Railways Minister Joe Ghartey, signed an agreement for the building of the Accra SkyTrain Task on the sidelines of the Africa Investment Forum in S. africa. The proposed initiative within Accra provides for the development of 5 routes, four of which are usually comprised of radial routes that will originate at the proposed SkyTrain Terminal, at the heart of Accra, at the Kwame Nkrumah Group, and one route that provides a good intra-city commuter loop submission service, also emanating through Circle.
