Bill and Melinda Entrance have announced their separation and divorce after 27 years of relationship, saying “we no longer think we can grow together being a couple”.
“After a great deal of believed and a lot of work on our romantic relationship, we have decided to end our own marriage, ” the set tweeted.
The Microsoft co-founder and his wife say they are going to continue to work together at the Costs & Melinda Gates Base, the world’s largest non-profit foundation. They first fulfilled in the 1980s when Melinda joined Bill’s Microsoft company.
The billionaire couple provides three children and with each other run the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The particular organisation has spent great fighting causes such as contagious diseases and encouraging vaccines in children.
The Entrance – along with investor Warren Buffett – are at the rear of the Giving Pledge, which usually calls on billionaires in order to commit to giving away the majority of their own wealth to good leads to.
Bill Gates is the 4th wealthiest person in the world, based on Forbes, and is worth $124bn (£89bn).
