A dietician with Accra based Trust Medical center and Clinics has mentioned the intake of sugar is not the reason for diabetes but as a result of an inability in the body system.
According to Sensible Letsa it is the inability from the body system in processing and taking advantage of up the end product of one’s given foods we consume that amounts to diabetes.
“The fact is that it is not really the mere intake associated with sugar that will give you diabetes. But then when you are diabetic, since the body is not able to absorb or even take up the sugar, in case you eat a table a desk sugar, your blood degree can rise.
“So wherever the sugar is originating from, whether as a breakdown item of the food you eat or even from the fruit or through the table, that should not be the reason for diabetes, ” he informed Nortey Duah on Pleasure FM’s Ultimate Health, Sunday.
“We are aware that too much sugars can make you store the excess of body fat and that can indirectly result in glucose intolerance and diabetes, ” he added.
“it is all about working the right amounts and also about eating associated with some roughage and dietary fibre.
a lot more education should be done at the situation so that people become familiar with that sugar is a chemical substance component but then that is the title we give to the one we all put in food…but then the truth is that, when we eat away kenkey, our fufu and everything that, they are broken down to be sugar that is what the entire body actually uses through additional processes to energise by itself. He concluded.
